Review

After the ambiguous ending of the first season, Billy McBride (Billy Bob Thornton) is back and this time he’s tasked for help by his friend Oscar (Lou Diamond Phillips) whose son Julio (Diego Josef) is falsely accused of a gangland murder.

The story starts out interesting and as with last season, features a vast conspiracy with powerful players. The plot does kind of weird as the season goes on; the show definitely went for the shock angle but it just came off as corny. The season also did away with the courtroom drama, which I really liked in season one. The new characters, such as Matthew Del Negro’s Danny, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s Gabriel, and Mark Duplass’ Tom Wyatt, are decent but not particularly memorable. Thornton’s McBride is still fun to watch and he still has great chemistry with the returning cast, such as Nina Arianda’s Patty. One surprising role is Ana de la Reguera’s Marisol Silva, who is great in every scene she's in.

Conclusion

A legal drama without many courtroom scenes.
