Review

To be honest, I didn’t expect them to make another season of the docuseries exploring the crimes of the Murdaugh family, which used their power and wealth to influence the small communities of Lowcountry South Carolina. This docuseries explores the criminal trial of Alex Murdaugh, who is on the stand for the murder of his youngest son Paul and his wife Maggie.

The docuseries dives deeper into the criminal dealings of Alex Murdaugh, such as his alleged embezzlement of his law firm’s money and his alleged drug troubles. The docuseries brings new characters to the light, such as Blanca Turrubiate-Simpson, the Murdaugh’s housekeeper, and Curtis Edward “Cousin Eddie” Smith, Alex Murdaugh’s alleged drug dealer and fixer. The main focus of the trial is on the murders of Alex’s youngest son and wife; the docuseries dives into the forensic and digital evidence, as well as the proceedings of the actual trial. The series feels like beating a dead horse as the trial has long concluded and the subject matter isn’t as enthralling as that of a powerful family having a rural community in its grip.

Conclusion

A docuseries that dives into greater detail the events covered in the first season.
