Review

This is an animated spinoff series from the The Boys TV show. Each episode is in a different artstyle and features a standalone story.

Some stories are pretty awesome; l enjoyed the episode with the Teen Titans meets Rick and Morty parody, the episode that has the same aesthetics as The Boys comic books, and the episode with Homelander’s origin story. There are some returning casts from the TV show, such as Antony Starr’s Homelander and Giancarlo Esposito’s Stan Edgar. The vast majority of the cast, however, are novel. There are some surprising names in the mix, such as Chris Diamantopoulos (from Silicon Valley), Simon Pegg (as Hughie, given that Pegg was the inspiration for Hughie in the comics), and Michael Cera. Other voices include Don Cheadle and Awkwafina. Like all anthologies, while there are some good episodes, there are also many mediocre, and even downright bad ones (looking at you BFF).

The art styles are decent, I especially liked the vintage Disney look of Boyd in 3D and the Ghibli-like look of John and Sun-Hee.

Conclusion

Some gems, but unfortunately some of the stories flop.
