Review

This is the first season of the American version of The Office. The mockumentary follows the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of Dunder Mifflin, a paper wholesale company. The main characters include Michael Scott (Steve Carell), the boss of the branch, Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), a salesman with a crush on the receptionist Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer), and Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson), a salesman with eccentric hobbies.

The American The Office is one of my favourite TV shows but season 1 is one of its weaker seasons. This season parrots many of the plotlines of its British counterpart, albeit in a more modern and American context. Even the characters are parodies of their British counterparts. Despite this, season 1 still has some hilarious bits, Diversity Day is one of my favourite episodes from the entire show. The cast also has some more chemistry and charisma than the British cast, especially with regards to Jim and Pam.

Conclusion

A fun office sitcom.
