But what is grief, if not love persevering?
Previous Marvel show review:
Vision has always been one of my favourite characters from The Avengers franchise and I was pretty excited to hear that Marvel was making a show centered around Vision and the Scarlet Witch. The show starts as a sitcom, with Wanda (Scarlet Witch) and Vision as the protagonists. As the sitcom progress, cracks begin to show.
The story is unique and pays homage to classic sitcoms such as I Love Lucy and Malcolm in the Middle. The first few episodes of WandaVision resemble a typical sitcom, with occasional Twilight Zone-like glitches in reality. Later on in the season the story becomes more complex, and additional characters are introduced, including some of my favourite supporting characters from the main Marvel franchise, such as Darcy Lewis from Thor (played by Kat Dennings) and Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man (played by Randall Park). The stars of the show for me were definitely Paul Bettany as the eloquent Vision and Kathryn Hahn as the happy-go-lucky Agnes.
Overall I thought it was an original concept that was really well-done; this series pays homage to the history of the silver screen and has minor details such as an authentic aspect ratio relative to the period the show is supposed to take place in. While I really enjoyed the first half of the series, I felt that the latter half was a bit underwhelming and not nearly as creative as the first half.
A unique concept that started well but became very underwhelming near the end.
