… and Sin City, she’s a big, bad broad flat on her back begging for it and I take her for all she’s worth and then I take her again and still she’s begging. Damn, it’s good to be alive.

Review

This, for me, is probably Miller’s masterpiece. It retells the story of Basin City, dubbed Sin City by its residents. Basin City is filled with lawlessness and different powerful parties. Miller retells some of the stories of Sin City in this comic series.

My favourite aspect of Sin City has to be the writing. The characters are incredibly engaging, from the simple-minded Marv to deadly little Miho, every character feels unique and interesting. The dialogue, of course, is enthralling and almost poetic while the stories are action-packed and full of twists and turns. Miller’s excellent use of colour (or lack thereof) is amazing and fully compliments the dark and gritty stories. I also enjoyed reading the files in between the issues, as it’s filled with comic book lore and history.

Conclusion

One of the masterpieces of the comicbook genre.
