Previous Fast & Furious reviews:
Justin Lin returns to direct the 9th (10th if you count the spin-off) film of the franchise. I don't know how they keep coming up with new plot lines, but they do, and this film introduces Jakob Toretto (John Cena), the estranged brother of Dom (Vin Diesel). Dom and Jakob face off against one another for control of Project Aries, a superweapon.
The Fate of the Furious already gave up any pretense of a sensible plot; now F9 amps it up to another level by giving up any pretense that the film obeys the laws of physics. Some of the scenes were so ridiculous that, despite being entertaining, it was too much even for me. I like Cena's villain character. I also like how Han (Sung Kang) is resurrected and how this film features Sean (Lucas Black), Twinkie (Shad Moss), and Earl (Jason Tobin) from Tokyo Drift. Overall despite being entertaining, the overly corny plot and action scenes were a tad too over-the-top.
Another corny plot with lots of action.
