Jimmy was the kind of guy that rooted for bad guys in the movies.
Past Martin Scorsese film reviews:
This is the last film I watched on my flight to Hong Kong; the story follows Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) who grows up in a working-class Italian-American neighbourhood and becomes enamored with the Mafia. Hill, along with his pals Jimmy (Robert De Niro) and Tommy (Joe Pesci), ends up working for the local capo Paulie (Paul Sorvino).
This is probably one of the best mob films I’ve ever watched. The pacing is phenomenal and the characters are enthralling. The character designs are very stylish and the story is very exciting and unpredictable. Every shot is excellent and tasteful, such as the delicious prison cooking scenes. The script is also great and plays on each character’s traits. There's almost a comedic nature to the dialogues. Liotta plays an excellent protagonist, especially as his life starts to unravel. De Niro’s paranoid Jimmy and Pesci’s violent Tommy are both very entertaining.
An exciting and tasteful mob film.
