Hiccup (Jay Baruchel), Toothless (Randy Thom), and the rest of the gang continue to rescue captured dragons from the warlords until the warlords enlist the help of the infamous dragon hunter Grimmel (F. Murray Abraham).

To be honest, this movie felt underwhelming as the conclusion of one of the best animated trilogies ever. That’s not to say the film is bad, just unoriginal. The story rehashes themes from the prior two movies such as humans hunting and enslaving dragons. The conclusion brings finality to the series but feels very safe. The new characters being introduced are also largely unmemorable, especially Toothless’ mate the Light Fury. The animation is phenomenal as always and so is the score by John Powell.

Conclusion

A fun adventure film that plays it safe.
