The world I lived in, heroes only existed in comic books, and I guess that would have been okay -- if bad guys were make-believe, too... but they're not.

Review

Based on the comics of the same name, Kick-Ass follows Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a nerdy teenager who orders a wetsuit online to become a superhero. Kick-Ass stumbles across two real superhero vigilantes: Big Daddy (Nicholas Cage) and Hit-Girl (Chloƫ Grace Moretz), who are going after the crime family headed by Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong).

I enjoyed this film when I first saw it as a teenager and it's still a fun watch now. It's definitely a toned-down version of the source material but the core dark and edgy humour is still there. Johnson's Dave is much more likeable in the film than his counterpart in the comics the ruthless father and daughter vigilante duo is still ridiculous in the film.

Conclusion

A fun teenage superhero film.
