The weakest film of the RoboCop franchise so far, the third film sees RoboCop take on the increasingly greedy OCP mega-corporation as they try to redevelop an entire neighbourhood forcefully. This time, OCP is joined by their new Japanese parent company, the Kanemitsu corporation, who has their own answer to RoboCop.
This film truly descends into B movie territory as the plot gets increasingly thin and the script gets increasingly weak. The film almost feels cartoonish in its PG-13 levity and the story is both generic and half-baked. Peter Weller is also no longer RoboCop in this film, and his replacement Robert John Burke lacks Weller's subtle nuance, which results in the character feeling less convincing.
Conclusion
A corporate slop film that downplays what makes the franchise great (dark humour and violence) in order to aim for mass-market PG-13 appeal.
