In this Edwardian adventure, the player assumes the role of Charlie Blackmore, a chimney sweep trying to rescue his siblings from an industrialist exploiting child labour. Charlie is the smallest matryoshka doll and he can stack into larger dolls to gain abilities that will help him progress on his mission.
Charlie Blackmore
The gameplay is pretty creative and I enjoyed the exploration puzzle aspect of the game, where the player can try multiple solutions until they progress. The typical Double Fine sense of humour is there and I like the creative and lighthearted art direction. The game itself is short but it encourages replayability with its alternate solutions and collecting of different dolls.
A lighthearted puzzle adventure.
As with Costume Quest, there is just one DLC for this game.
This DLC adds a new side story to the game. Much like Grubbins on Ice for Costume Quest, the new addition builds upon the core game without introducing any any revolutionary mechanics. It feels like an extra chapter of the main game and is a fun addition to have more Stacking.
