Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy. Both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.

Season 2 is much longer than season 1 and some of the themes which make the American version of the show so great starts popping up in this season. The episodes in season 2 have plotlines such as the blossoming relationship between Michael (Steve Carell) and his boss Jan (Melora Hardin) as well as between Jim (John Krasinski) and the already engaged Pam (Jenna Fischer). Other plotlines include the infamous Yankee Swap and the dramatic booze cruise.

Season 2 is much better than season 1 because it starts branching out of comedy into more dramatic themes, such as romantic relationships and workplace friendships. The characters are incredibly likeable, despite being obnoxious, because they’re shown to be decent people who care about one another. Some of my favourite scenes from this season are those of friends supporting one another through challenges. The humour, of course, is still fantastic and ages very well. This season definitely leans into the show's characteristic cringeworthy scenarios. Carell’s Michael is amazing as he can be a buffoon but also has moments of clarity where he gives actual good advice. The other characters such as Krasinski’s Jim and Rainn Wilson’s Dwight are also entertaining and overall, the entire cast has pretty good chemistry.

Conclusion

The show is starting to find its footing.
