Review

This is supposed to be the more exciting half of the two film series based on the last Hunger Games novel. The film follows Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and a group of soldiers which include both her love interests, Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) and Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth). The rebels are on a mission to assassinate President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in order to prevent further conflict.

The issue with pacing is persistent in this film. Despite the action sequences the film feels like a slog. The dramatic scenes where the characters perform heroic deeds are glanced over and instead the film focuses on the boring scenes where the characters sit around and talk. The acting is decent but not spectacular; I did like many of the supporting characters though, such as Donald Sutherland’s President Snow.

Conclusion

Too much filler.
