Review

After being underwhelmed by the sequel Star Wars trilogy, I was excited to watch a series which seeks to recapture the Star Wars magic and I was not disappointed. This show follows the adventures of Din Djarin, a Mandalorian bounty hunter who is contracted by remnants of the Empire to deliver a 50-year-old baby.

The story is simple and harkens back to the tradition Star Wars tradition of good versus evil and it makes sense in the grand scheme of the Star Wars universe. Both the characters and settings are novel, but somehow reminiscent to classic Star Wars; watching this show is like watching the original trilogy for the first time. Jon Favreau deserves massive credit for writing a story which appeals to Stars Fans both new and old.

In classic Star Wars fashion, the score (or lack thereof) is incredible and perfectly captures the atmosphere of the different scenes. Also in classic Star Wars fashion, the cinematography is innovative and effective, such as the use of virtual sets. My favourite aspect of the show is undoubtedly the Child (Baby Yoda), an animatronic puppet; I would watch an entire show of only Baby Yoda.

The show is not perfect, as I felt some scenes moved too slowly in order to build atmosphere, but it is nevertheless a solid show which redeems the failures of the sequel trilogy.

Conclusion

Amazing show that gets Star Wars right.
