Michael and Jan seem to be playing their own separate game, and it's called "Let's See How Uncomfortable We Can Make Our Guests" - and, they're both winning, so I am going to make a run for it.
Previous The Office review:
Season 4 continues with the shenanigans at the Scranton branch of the paper company Dunder Mifflin. The new plotlines include the love triangle between Dwight (Rainn Wilson), Angela (Angela Kinsey), and Andy (Ed Helms) and the introduction of new characters such as Holly (Amy Ryan).
Due to the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike, season four is a much shorter season with only 19 episodes instead of the planned 30. Despite this, season four is probably my favourite season of The Office; it contains some of my favourite plotlines, such as the meteoric rise of Ryan (B. J. Novak) at corporate and the implosion of Michael and Jan’s toxic relationship. Dinner Party in particular is probably one of the greatest sitcom episodes ever written, with its dramatic dialogue and awkward situations. The episode reminded of me Albee’s Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and the viewer is constantly bombarded with one sensitive situation after another.
A hilarious and consistent season.
