Review

This is the fourth and final Sherlock Holmes novel, and it follows Holmes and Watson as they intercept a message from one of Moriarty’s agents threatening the life of a country gentleman.

Out of all the novels, this one had the most sleuthing by Holmes. His deductions are non-stop and this story is filled with twists and turns. Doyle goes back to the formula of his earlier two novels where the backstory makes up a substantial portion of the book, but this backstory is much shorter than that of the first two books.

Conclusion

Not the most memorable Sherlock Holmes story.
