Review
Season 2 took everything that is good in the first season (the characters, the story, and the production) and took it to a whole new level. The story follows Mando and the Child's journey to avoid the remnants of the Empire and return the Child back to its own people. I enjoyed it so much that I, a 20+-year-old adult, even purchased the Child's doll.
The Child Doll
The writing and the story are both spectacular; there is so much fan service such as references from the main Star Wars trilogies and peripheral Star Wars franchises such as comics and cartoons. The depth of character development accomplished in a single episode surpasses the development in even some of the films (especially from the sequel trilogy). I especially liked watching Mando bond with the Child over time; other highlights include Bill Burr's sardonic portrayal as Mayfield and Giancarlo Esposito's cold portrayal as Moff Gideon. The ending, without spoiling anything, will probably go down in history as one of the greatest moments in TV history; I'd be lying if I said I didn't tear up during the conclusion.
There were some filler episodes but even the fillers are entertaining, mainly because this season focuses much more on the star of the show, the Child. I also like how the show nailed diversity, unlike the sequel trilogy which tried to force in diversity to check boxes, the diversity in the Mandalorian felt subtle and natural; the scenes on the ship is one of the best scenes in the entire season.
