I've made some empty promises in my life, but hands down, that was the most generous.

Season 6 is kind of a hit or miss. There are some amazing storylines such as the wedding of Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer), Michael (Steve Carell) dating Pam’s mom Helene (Linda Purl), and Dunder Mifflin going through financial hardship and being purchased by Sabre, a printer company.

While there are certainly many many strong episodes, this season also features many filler episodes which feel kind of boring, such as the one with the insurance salesman (Mike Starr) and the one with the investment banker (David Costabile). Some of the storylines, such as Jim being promoted as co-manager, also feels dry and unimpactful. This season also sees more screentime for some of the supporting cast, notably Andy (Ed Helms) and Erin (Ellie Kemper); I find Andy to be a decent “lite” version of Michael but I found Erin to be too archetypal and one-dimensional. Out of the new characters, I particularly liked the headstrong CEO of Sabre Jo (Kathy Bates) and the meek Sabre representative Gabe (Zach Woods).

Conclusion

A weaker season but some great individual episodes and storylines.
